Sharpening the Vision of Our Future
7Currently, 48 million children in India are struggling to read the blackboard. It isn’t a failure of resources or a symptom of poverty, it’s simply because no one has ever checked their eyes and the glasses are unaffordable.
Kamala Drishti™, an initiative of Nityaasha Foundation, ensures no child’s education is held back by uncorrected refractive errors (URE) and blurry vision. Founded in 2021 by Sandhiprakash (Sandhi) Bhide, the initiative builds on 15 years of impactful work where Sandhi helped screen over 600,000 children and distribute over 44,000 spectacles across India.
Today, Kamala Drishti focuses sharply on the critical challenge of URE, which affects 48million children in India. To achieve massive scale, the initiative optimises its entire process to deliver affordable eyeglasses rapidly and efficiently. This scale is powered by a clear, unwavering mission combined with Balak Drishti’s advanced AI technology platform, paving the way for equitable education.
